Update: Groups emails are now even more secure with Virtru

Treatment at Groups often involves sharing sensitive information through email. Because of this, security and privacy are extra important. So, we’ve started using a new tool called Virtru. Virtru adds a layer of security and privacy to Groups messages.

Here’s what you need to know about the new tool and how it will change email messages Groups members get from their care team.

What is Virtru?

Virtru is a secure email and file-sharing tool. It helps organizations protect the sensitive information shared in emails.

Why is the care team using Virtru?

Virtru will help Groups follow federal regulations and our own privacy standards. We’re using it to make sure all emails between members and their care teams are secure.

Why do my emails from my care team look different?

Emails will look a little different because we are using Virtru. If someone sends you an email or file that’s protected by Virtru:

Is my data safe?

Yes. Virtru helps us make sure your data is safe with end-to-end email encryption. End-to-end email encryption means no one except you and the person you’re messaging can see what you send.

At Groups, your security has always been a top priority. Virtru will make the process of protecting your information even easier.

Do I have to receive encrypted emails?

No! If you’d rather not receive encrypted messages, just alert your care team, and they will communicate with you without Virtru. Just keep in mind that without encryption, your data is less secure.

Have more questions? Virtru’s support page is a helpful resource. They have an entire section devoted to reading and replying to secure emails and attachments. You can also always reach out to your care team directly with any questions.
